UB to Remain Closed on Monday

News Release

UB to Remain Closed on Monday -- Announcement Regarding Tuesday Expected Monday Afternoon

Release Date 10/15/06

Respecting the Town of Amherst driving ban, continuing local power outages and the need for additional clean-up efforts in local communities, the University at Buffalo will remain closed on Monday, Oct. 16.

Classes are cancelled, but essential heath, safety, and facilities staff are expected to report as scheduled.

The university will remain in close contact with Town of Amherst and power authority officials throughout the day on Monday with hopes of resuming full UB operations on Tuesday. The decision to remain closed one additional day was made Sunday evening based on the latest information available to the campus.

UB appreciates the difficulties faced by many in the community, including UB students, faculty, and staff over the past few days and hopes an additional day of closing will assist in community and campus restoration of power and storm clean-up.

UB Residence Halls continue to operate with full services, the Student Union remains open, campus shuttle bus service has been maintained, and libraries on the North Campus will be open on Monday following their regular hours.

We hope to provide information about whether UB will reopen on Tuesday by mid-afternoon on Monday. The information will be available on www.buffalo.edu, at 716-645-NEWS and broadcast on WBFO 88.7 FM.
